Gerald McLAREN, the senior architect in the Johannesburg CITY ENGINEERS DEPARTMENT. was responsible for the overall design of the building. Mat LANKERS subsequently took over the design and detailing and ran the Building Contract. Various students of Architecture - who were working in the City Engineers Department during their vacation as part of their Bursary obligations - were involved in various aspects of the project, including Jonathan STONE, Anne WILLIAMS, Kevin MOSES and John DE KLERK. Jonathan STONE compiled the set of presentation drawings (based on the working drawings) which was submitted for consideration by the Award assessors.
