Mr. Frank McLachlan built this house in 1889 and sold it in 1904 to Mr. CT. Rabie. Rabie and his wife, Maria Elizabeth Frances came from Aberdeen in the Cape, and named the house after their beloved Camdeboo Mountains in the Aberdeen region.

The property used to be made up of three stands covered by a tennis court, orchard, rose garden, vegetable garden, palm trees, some flower gardens and a few lawns.

The house was furnished with mahogany furniture imported from England.
