In 1935 BURNET TAIT & LORNE were commissioned by Sir Ernest Oppenheimer to design the giant headquarters of the Anglo-American Corporation of South Africa building at 44 Main Street, Johannesburg. The resident architect was Kenneth Edward Frederick GARDINER.
