THE EXTENSIONS TO MURRAYS BAY HARBOUR WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT
BY THE S.A. ENGINEERING CORPS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR WAS
CARRIED OUT BY THE FIRM CHRISTIANI & NIELSEN (S.A.) (PTY) LTD. DURING
THE PERIOD JANUARY 1956 TO DECEMBER 1957.

AT THE TIME OF THE EXTENSION THE ISLAND WAS A S.A. NAVAL STATION
KNOWN AS SAS "ROBBENEILAND" COMMANDED BY LIEUTENANT COMMANDER
J. H. WICHT WITH LIEUTENANT A. M. BROWN IN CHARGE OF THE HARBOUR,
BRIGADIER J. F. CRAIG 0.B.E., A.M.I.C.E. WAS THE CONSULTING ENGINEER
ASSISTED BY MR. J. R. WILLOK AS CLERK-OF-WORKS
