The War Memorial commemorates the men of Somerset East and the surrounding district who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.

Designed and constructed by Crankshaw Brothers of King William's Town the Memorial comprises of a tapered granite pylon on a square base set within a formal garden layout. A longsword with blade down is included on the East face of the pylon.

The plaque on the east side records the names of the fallen from 1914-1918; the plaque on the west side records the names from 1939 -1945.

A granite plaque was subsequently added to the north face of the memorial. This records the names of two men who lost their lives on the SS Mendi and five who died in East Africa.

A plaque on the south side records the names of those who died in South Africa and South West Africa.

The Memorial is in very good condition - the surrounding garden is just suffering from the drought.
