This gracious Cape-Dutch revival family home was designed by Jaap Jongens for the Dura family: a contractors family from the Netherlands, who were active in South Africa in the period after the Second World War. Jongens referenced their trade in the embellishment of the main gable: a plumb line. This courtyard house is exceptional in the attention that was paid to the architectural joinery. A water feature reminiscent of the bath at Groot Constanta creates a visual focal point for the side stoep.
