JOHANNESBURG CULTURAL LEGACY
HIGHVELD HOUSE
Karen Mailer designed the house
in 1996 for Peter and Joan Moses and
received an award of merit from the South
African Institute of Architects. Using the
slope of the site and split levels, the stated
objective of space and light and separation of
the private and public domain is achieved.
Oregon pine sourced from Rand Mine,
where Peter Moses worked as a Chartered
Accountant, connects the house to its
gold mining roots.
