Was probably born in South Africa. He studied architecture at the University of Cape Town, graduating in 1934 and worked in the office of WALGATE & ELSWORTH from early 1931 until January 1932. This experience was followed by nine months (August 1932 to April 1933) with WH GRANT. In 1935 he was elected an Associate member of the RIBA. Kent appears to have set up practice on his own account in Cape Town about 1938. He was later in partnership with HE Twentyman JONES (Twentyman Jones & Kent) and most of his career falls after 1940.
