OERDER, Jacobus Hendrikus

Architect


Trained as an architect in the Netherlands. Emigrated in 1888 to the Kaapse Hoop goldfields of the Barberton district as an inspector for the mines. A year later he became secretary to the State mines Engineer of the ZAR [Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek]. After the Anglo-Boer War he became a draughtsman in the Surveyor-General's Office (1905) of the Transvaal Colony. In 1906 until 1922 he was employed by the State Mines Engineer in Johannesburg.
