The senior partner in FLEMING & COOKE and the son of FLH FLEMING, Fleming was educated at St John's College, Johannesburg (1918-1927) and studied architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand for two years (1928-1930). He left to complete his studies at the Architectural Association in London from 1930 to 1933, travelling on the continent during vacations. Graduating in 1934, he returned to South Africa and entered his father's office in Johannesburg in that year. In 1936 he became a partner in the firm (cf FLEMING & PARTNERS). The firm became known as FLEMING & COOKE when BS COOKE became a partner in 1946.
His son, Michael FLEMING also joined the practice.
