Trained in London in the office of the architect Detmar Blow. He arrived in South Africa in 1909, joining the office of BAKER & FLEMING in Johannesburg for two years. In 1910, in collaboration with Gordon LEITH, he was placed second in the competition for the layout of Church Square in Pretoria: the central feature of his design being a column set in an oval pool and surmounted by a winged figure and crowns. From 1912 to 1914 he worked for REID & DELBRIDGE in Johannesburg and by 1917 he was working for the same partnership in Cape Town. He was a member of the Association of Transvaal Architects and died on active service in the First World War.
