WEIDNER, CharlesBorn: 1869 03 10
Was born in Berncastel and educated at St Ignatius College, Antwerp. He arrived in the Cape in 1892, travelling to South West Africa in 1893 where he worked until 1895, living in Angra Pequena (now Luderitzbucht) where he transferred existing buildings from one side of the bay to the other. Following this he spent three years in the employ of WG Scott, architect (where? Possibly RW SCOTT?), before beginning practice on his own account in Claremont, Cape Town in 1899. By 1907 he was resident in Mossel Bay and had opened an office in Oudtshoorn.
In 1903 he was specialising in Brick, Lime and Cement Kilns, Continuous Lime and Brick Kilns, Boiler Flues and Chimney Stacks. See advert top right.
