Born in the Cape, Ohlsson studied architecture at Cambridge, England, from 1928 to 1930. He returned to Cape Town to complete his architectural training at the University of Cape Town, between 1931 and 1933. During this period he worked as an assistant in the office of FK KENDALL in 1931. In 1946 he formed a partnership with AJC RETIEF. In 1959 he was in partnership with RV TWENTYMAN JONES (cf. TWENTYMAN JONES & OHLSSON). He lived at Fairview in Camps Ground Rd, Rondebosch and retired in 1967. In 1969 he is recorded as a retired member of the Cape Institute of address 'Dragon House', Hill Street, Plettenberg Bay, Cape.
